Rikki Sylvan - 3AM
Feb 81 Rikki Sylvan and Moog
Throughout this period another project was also continuing parallel to everything else. Andy Prince and myself had worked on Rikki Sylvans album 'The Silent Hours' (Krl Records) and I had roped Rikki in to help out with production on the "Random Hold" album.
Rikki under his birth name of Nick Condron had worked as an engineer / producer on many projects including "Gary Numan's" first recordings..Numan prior to working with Rikki had been predominently guitar based but was fast to catch on to the synth approach...
We put a studio band together with Rikki myself and drummer Derek Quinton called "3am". Rikki had a studio underneath Miles Copelands record company offices just off Portobello Road where he would produce and engineer IRS signed acts during the day. At night we would record our material, hence the name 3am, which was about the time we would start recording. 3 albums, were completed in due course though none of them ever surfaced....Andy Prince after a stint in"Sham 69" now has his own project featuring his extremely musical Chapman stick playing...
I recently learnt that Rikki had passed away. He will be sadly missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing or working with him.
